Fastned, a European fast-charging company, built its first emissions-free charging station in Beesd, Gelderland. This fast-charging facility features eight charging spots. Fastned’s ambition is to realise all charging stations emission-free. “The experiences we have gained in this first pilot are very valuable for the future in which we want to further reduce our emissions during construction on a structural basis,” Fastned says in a press release.

Electric crawler cranes

During the construction of the station, Fastned used electrical equipment such as electric crawler cranes, shovels and aerial platforms as much as possible. As a result, 81.85 per cent less nitrogen oxide and 77.15 per cent less carbon dioxide was emitted compared to a traditionally built station of the same size.

In 2022, Fastned built a record number of new stations. This year too, the pace of construction will be further accelerated. Soon, Fastned expects to have reached at least 250 stations in its overall network, including more than 150 in the Netherlands.
