The upcoming edition of IAA Mobility (International Automobile Exhibition) will have a Dutch accent. In one of the fair’s pavilions – organized by RAI Automotive Industry NL with the support of the Dutch government – 15 companies will be exhibiting their technologies.  From September 4 to September 8, the 200 m2 exhibition space will present the country’s automotive and mobility ecosystem, from battery technology to smart logistic solutions.

  • A cohort of Dutch automotive and mobility companies will participate in the upcoming edition of the IAA Mobility, one of the main sector faires.
  • The event will be a chance for the companies to showcase their technologies and bolster international partnerships.

Happening in Munich’s trade fair center, the IAA Mobility is one of the world’s largest mobility events. Once an occasion for carmakers to present their latest developments, the event changed its format in 2021, focusing more on innovation and business. For the Dutch ecosystem, being there is essential. Germany represents a crucial market, as half of the Dutch automotive and mobility sector exports are destined for the German market.

“For us and the whole Dutch automotive and mobility sector, it’s exciting to be there, as most of the companies within our pavilion work on a business-to-business model,” says Bram Hendrix, Program Manager of Internationalization at RAI Automotive Industry NL, an umbrella organization for automotive and mobility companies in the Netherlands.

The heart of the European automotive industry

The Dutch automotive industry has three zeros in sight: zero emissions, accidents, and congestion. Several companies working on achieving these zeros are Helmond’s Automotive Campus residents. “It’s great to be part of the NL pavilion, where we join the RAI Automotive Industry NL and the Netherlands ecosystem. IAA Mobility is the heart of the European automotive industry; it will be a good moment to meet our international partners and make new connections,” states Pieter Rahusen,  Business Development Manager of the Automotive Campus.

Springboard

A company that will be part of the NL pavilion is SEKISUI Europe, which also has one of its locations at the Automotive Campus. The multinational Japanese firm is a world leader in the chemical industry. “Through the cooperation in the joint ecosystems of the Automotive Campus, where we are based, and our membership of RAI Automotive Industry NL, we see endless possibilities for the European market. For us, they are the proverbial ‘springboard’ to create European cooperation in the field of innovation and technological developments that can bring SEKISUI further within the mobility sector,” said Masashi Yanai, Director of the SEKISUI design studio.

International expansion

Amid the ongoing transformations disrupting mobility, the Dutch ecosystem’s strengths lie in innovation and knowledge. “We have unmatched knowledge in key areas such as semiconductor production as well as battery technologies, charging infrastructure, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. Moreover, the Dutch automotive ecosystem is involved in several national and European projects that are testing and developing new mobility technologies,” added Hendrix. IAA Mobility is a chance for all exhibiting companies to strengthen their network, potentially establish new partnerships, and expand their businesses abroad.
