The corona crisis hit Latvia hard – the country was already in recession due to the euro and the credit crisis. The European Commission is giving the Baltic state €1.8 billion through the Recovery and Resilience Facility. Such a budget is tantamount to 6 percent of the country’s entire economy in 2019. Over €676 million are set aside for the green transition, with investments targeting greener transport and more energy-efficient buildings.
