Decarbonizing Europe – Bulgaria

What are Bulgaria’s plans to become more sustainable?
Find out in our project Decarbonizing Europe

Sustainability and digitization are two challenges Bulgaria needs to take on. The rise in energy prices made some of the poorest Bulgarians buy wood-burning stoves. In addition, barely 6 percent of the country’s SMEs sell their goods online – the EU average is 17 percent. €6.27 billion from the European Commission is set to help Bulgaria in its climate transition. As part of the plan, €2.5 billion will be invested in making the economy greener, with part of this sum for new renewable energy and batteries. Bulgaria’s Recovery and Resilience Plan is also setting aside some budget for digital skills development and for business. Are you curious about how Bulgaria is planning to decarbonize?
