e52 has already had a sneak peek, but this coming Sunday will see the official opening of PIT, Play In Town, an indoor children’s playground on the site of the former Ferrari garage at Vestdijk 133.

The full interview [in Dutch] with the initiators is available here.

“Everyone loves to play. The city of Eindhoven has everything, but you can’t really play anywhere.” With this in mind, Laurie Sieben and Ard Jacobs started a pop-up playground made of 100% recycled materials in the former Ferrari garage at Vestdijk 133 in Eindhoven. Children can enjoy their own adventures at this Eindhoven-based play place, while parents unwind in the sun with a cup of coffee or herbal tea made from the on-site herb garden. PIT stands for Play in Town and the old garage and its activities are a pit stop. It’s a temporary set-up until the end of December 2015.

PIT040
The fun opening event will take place on Sunday 14 June, so come along with the kids. The playground will be open from 12.00. Children can enjoy classic activities with sand, water and plants, as well as the modern and interactive installations developed by Ard Jacobs and Laurie Sieben themselves, including Pillogames. Thanks to a self-developed controller and games, Pillogames makes it possible for people of all ages and abilities to play together. But one of the rules is, you need to wear old clothes to play here! PIT is open every Sunday from 12.00 until 17.00.

There is also room for other activities in the large space on the Vestdijk. Anyone with an interesting idea who would like to collaborate with us is welcome. Think work spaces, expositions, workshops, small events and pop-up restaurants. So get in touch if there is something you would like to develop here!

During DDW15 the property will host expositions of all housing association recycling initiatives. There will also be events here during Glow. The PIT040 initiative was made possible thanks to the Buurtcultuurfonds Woonbedrijf.
