Hungary applied for a €7.17 billion loan. Water management, digital upskilling, and social power plants are some of the actions Budapest plans to carry out. However, the Hungarian proposal hasn’t been endorsed yet, as it doesn’t comply with the EU assessment criteria on anti-corruption measures. In addition to better water management, the Hungarian plan reforms the energy markets, by investing in smart grids and nurturing solar energy. As the European Commission hasn’t given its green light yet, the cabinet established a National Recovery Fund to start decarbonizing the country.
