SingularityU the Netherlands, with its residence at Strijp-S in Eindhoven, is looking for the best ideas to fight the consequences of climate change. The one person with the best idea will join the Global Solutions Program (GSP), a 9-week educational program held each year from June through August at the Singularity University campus at the NASA Research Park in Silicon Valley. The value of the prize is €50,000 and is fully covered by SingularityU The Netherlands.
“The 2017 SingularityU The Netherlands Global Impact Challenge is aiming to find the most innovative Dutch entrepreneurs with moonshot ideas that leverage exponential technology to prevent or mitigate the impact and consequences of climate change”, a spokesperson of SingularityU says.
Singularity University’s Global Impact Challenges are held all around the world, in partnership with local sponsor organizations and organized by region and theme. “These challenges act as a platform to identify entrepreneurs, leaders, scientists and engineers with the most innovative ideas that could positively impact millions of lives locally and globally within the next 3-5 years.”
Singularity University has identified 12 Global Grand Challenges – worldwide problems that are too big to ignore. Most of these challenges are addressed in the Global Impact Challenge.
SingularityU The Netherlands has chosen Climate Change as its main theme. “We would like contestants to focus on prevention, mitigation and adaptation of the impact and consequences of Climate Change. A few examples could be: reduction and removal of waste and pollution, combating sea level rise, deforestation or coral bleaching, new sustainable energy ideas, and new food or water supplies.”
