The head office of ITAM Solutions has been located at Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) since 2020. An extremely inspiring environment, according to CEO Khalid Hafid. “We were looking for an environment where we and our people would be inspired. Our choice fell on BIC because we like to be surrounded by parties that do not necessarily resemble us but with whom we have a lot of similarities.” Key words here are technology, innovation, and forward-thinking. For Hafid and his team, all these components come together at BIC. “And, of course, it’s also a stunning location.”
Active worldwide
In addition to the Eindhoven office, ITAM Solutions has branch offices in Leiden, Gorinchem, Antwerp, Singapore, and the US. “We do indeed operate worldwide,” says Hafid. “We work independently of location and can do our work anywhere, whether from home or the office. This is also the quality that customers have come to expect from us.” The company focuses particularly on the larger companies: “Then you have to think of organizations with more than 5,000 employees. We have clients such as Danone, ASML, ABN Amro, VolkerWessels, Douwe Egberts, Royal BAM Group, Royal Van Oord, and so on.”
Bridge
ITAM Solutions was originally formed in 2007. Last January, the company merged with Mproof and in April, a second IT company, InfraVision, was acquired. With this, ITAM Solutions puts a unique proposition in the market: “We build the essential bridge between IT Asset Management (ITAM) and IT Service Management (ITSM).”
Because not everyone will immediately understand what these terms mean, Hafid explains: “ITAM is still a relatively young field. It was first developed around 2005. At the time, it was mainly known as software asset management.” In a nutshell, according to Hafid, it boils down to managing and administering a company’s software assets through ITAM. “Think about the software and the associated costs.”
Indispensable discipline
Although starting small, ITAM is now an indispensable discipline. Hafid: “It now fulfills a truly official role. Not only within IT departments but also within, for example, purchasing departments or the management team. Nowadays, every company works with IT and IT is indispensable.” But, says Hafid, IT costs a lot of money and is difficult to manage and administer. That’s exactly where ITAM comes in. “As a discipline, we are actually growing along with the IT industry. The more IT there is, the more work we have to do,” Hafid says.
IT Service Management
Derk van Wijk, CFO at ITAM Solutions and former owner of Mproof, explains the discipline of IT Service Management. “Mproof was founded in 1997. From the beginning, we were focused on service management. Specifically, we put an application in the market to manage IT infrastructure.” Van Wijk cites as an example the people walking around inside companies with laptops and cell phones. Often there is little insight into who has what and which devices need to be replaced. “And if there is a problem, where exactly is it? Who’s going to fix it? Within an average company, that kind of thing is impossible to keep up with manually. We have an application that neatly keeps track of all this and registers it.”
InfraVision
InfraVision is another company that originally operates in the field of service management. “They don’t have their own application but are dealers of a service management software package called 4me. That package is doing very well in the market and InfraVision was the largest dealer worldwide. By adding this now to our own offering, we are able to offer a plug-and-play application and at the same time respond to the customer’s needs. All this in combination with a solid piece of asset management,” says Van Wijk.
Explosive consumption
Combining ITAM and ITSM creates an orderly flow of the complex software infrastructure within companies. “The vision behind this is very important. We have thought about it very carefully,” says Hafid. He explains that a number of factors played a role in merging the three companies: “Among other things, we looked at what was going on in the world and in what way we could add value to our customers and partners.”
The “explosion of IT consumption” is a major global development, according to Hafid. “In the last decade, in particular, we have only started to consume more, in all areas. IT is no exception in that. Just think of the ease with which you install an app on your smartphone or the number of devices you have at home or at work. This has all increased at a rapid pace. We also call this the explosive consumption of IT.”
All in one at ITAM Solutions
Hafid explains that the combination of the disciplines of ITAM and ITSM creates order out of chaos. From the customer’s perspective, this means that there is one party that offers IT services across the board. “Whether it’s software or hardware, with us you can do everything. From supplying the hardware to the applications you need to do your job to managing your subscriptions. Everything you need for your IT is now in one house.”
Invaluable employees
Hafid is clearly proud of what he and his team have built over the past few years, “Yes we certainly are. It’s great that companies fully trust us to properly manage the complex issues of disconnected and out-of-control IT environments. We make it easy and insightful so that they can focus on their core business.” He does not want to leave out his employees: “Thanks to their efforts, we have arrived here. They take good care of our customers and ensure the steps we make as a company. Without them, we could not have made these steps.”
Van Wijk, in conclusion: “ITAM solutions is also a very fun and challenging company to work for. Our employees work for interesting clients and gain a lot of knowledge. All the different scenarios inspire them time and again. We are always looking for new people, so feel free to come and visit us at BIC.”
