VDL Bus & Coach has delivered seven buses to the Luxembourg transport company Voyages Emile Weber. For VDL it is the first order for electric buses in Luxembourg. The Citea’s LLE-99 Electric travel a distance of about 1400 km daily.
Ard Romers, director of VDL Bus & Coach Nederland, says: “The Netherlands now has 9 E-Mobility implementation projects, making it a proven transition partner for efficient zero-emission public transport systems. In addition, our clean and efficient electric vehicles are in day-to-day operation in several German cities. With this experience, we are a good match for Luxembourg’s ambition to make public transport sustainable.”
The buses are specially developed for less busy urban and regional bus lines. To ensure that the buses can drive as much as possible during the day, they use ‘opportunity charging’, a technique that allows the buses to be charged a few minutes at a time during the day. At night, the buses charge slowly until full. In addition to the buses, VDL also supplies the charging stations and their installation.
