VDL Bus and Coach opens a new subsidiary in the Spanish capital Madrid. The choice to open a subsidiary in Spain is the continuation of VDL’s strategy to establish a direct presence of the buses & coaches division in the major bus markets in Western Europe. The Spanish bus market is currently undergoing a remarkable boom. After the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, Spain is Europe’s fourth bus and coach market, and it is the second coach market after Germany.

“We are very proud of the fact that we are also active in this tremendously attractive market with a fully owned VDL Bus & Coach subsidiary. Following a sharp fall during the financial crisis, the market in Spain is now undergoing rapid growth,” says Commercial Director Marcel Jacobs of VDL Bus & Coach.

VDL Bus & Coach España is led by Anno Dirksen. He spent the past nine years as managing director of VDL Bus & Coach Italia. The core activities of VDL Bus & Coach consist of the development, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales of a wide range of buses, coaches and chassis modules, the conversion or extension of mini & midi buses and the purchase and sales of second-hand buses. Manufacturing takes place in the Netherlands and Belgium.
