TFA Europe and Include Industries have jointly launched a new company to assemble power modules. The new company aims to conquer the global market under the new name Powertrim Technologies and build on the foundation laid by four semiconductor tooling veterans with the establishment of TFA Europe in 2020.
Founded in the eastern Netherlands, the birthplace of so-called “semiconductor back-end” technology, TFA Europe filled the gap in the production chain for power module assembly, a growing market. While the global energy transition is well underway, the electrification of automotive powertrains, the impressive advance of renewable energy solutions, and a number of new industrial applications are accelerating the demand for power modules, according to the initiators. They intend to leverage their over 40 years of experience in manufacturing tools for packaging ICs (integrated circuits), cutting, bending the legs of microchips (trim & form), and related mechanical engineering.
Flex Line
Powertrim has already sold the first units of its modular Flex Line machine to customers in Europe, North America, and Asia. Huub Claassen, co-founder, and Commercial Director, is responsible for sales and will continue to combine this role with his responsibility for Business Development at Boschman Advanced Packaging Technology in Duiven. Include Industries founders Ilko Bosman and Daan Kersten will join Powertrim’s Management Board as Financial and General Directors, respectively. A strategic partnership with co-founder and toolmaker TSD from ‘s-Heerenberg ensures that Powertrim can offer its customers a wide range of services, from initial tool design to regular high-volume series production.
