They come from far away places like India, Egypt, Brazil and Hungary. But they share one common interest: technology. Ten international tech talents will visit Brainport Eindhoven next week. They are invited for the Tech Xperience Week, which is held simultaneously with the Dutch Design Week. During the week they will make an extensive tour of high-tech companies in Brabant, especially in the Eindhoven region. The top talents have to become tech ambassadors in their own country, in order to attract more internationals to fill the almost 5000 unfilled high-tech jobs in Brabant.

During the Tech Xperience Week in Eindhoven, the focus is on technology that can offer solutions for the so-called global grand challenges in the fields of energy, mobility, health care, safety and food production. The central theme of the week is: ‘How we shape the future together’. The 10 participants will visit High Tech Campus Eindhoven, the TU Eindhoven, SingularityU and various leading Brabant high-tech companies such as ASML, Fujifilm, Vanderlande, Philips, VDL, Additive Industries and Huijbregts.

For the organisation of the Tech Xperience Week Brainport Eindhoven works together with the province of Noord-Brabant. “We need thousands of ‘smart brains and golden hands’, as we like to call them, to keep up the current economic growth of Brainport Eindhoven”, says chairman John Jorritsma of Brainport Eindhoven, also mayor of the city. “We were extremely enthusiastic that there was so much interest in the programme and that we received no less than 500 applications from a wide variety of countries.

Commissioner Bert Pauli (Economics and Internationalisation) sees that more and more companies, especially in the technical sector, are experiencing obstacles due to the tight labour market: “Governments are therefore going one step further. With this campaign, among other things, we support the manufacturing industry in Brabant in attracting the right personnel. Because talent is necessary to continue to do what we do best: grow and innovate.”
