Startupbootcamp wants to add Eindhoven to its international FoodTech innovation program. The foodtech program is already active in Rome. Eindhoven is no stranger to Startupbootcamp. Until late last year the accelerator was connected to HighTechXL, which now operates independently.
Startupbootcamp announced the new FoodTech program today during the AgriFoodTech Platform convention in ‘s Hertogenbosch. Applications can’t be sent in yet; after the kick-off of the program around in Rome, startups can apply for one of the ten spots in the new Eindhoven program in the second quarter of 2017.
The program focusses on startups in both Agrotech domains like new seeds, protein sourcing and precision farming, as well as startups in Foodtech domains focussed on new ways of processing, packaging and food safety. A complete overview of the startup domains can be found on the website.
Startupbootcamp Eindhoven will be ran by Edwin de Zeeuw, currently managing partner selection for the Amsterdam Startupbootcamp Smart City- & Living program. De Zeeuw: “Our Global food system is under pressure. To feed the world in the future, it’s crucial that we move towards a more sustainable system, with a better value creation for every stakeholder in the chain. For that we need innovation and we are going to support the entrepreneurs that will bring this to the table”.
According to Ruud Hendriks, co-founder of Startupbootcamp Global, Eindhoven is the right spot for the new FoodTech program. “The Netherlands has always been an innovative food producing country. We are the third biggest exporter in the world of food processing machinery and fourth when it comes to agri equipment. We have extensive knowledge in agriculture & food production and we have one of the most productive food systems in the world. Eindhoven has a high-tech focus and a very active startup ecosystem. And with cities like Venlo, Helmond, Veghel and Den Bosch 30 minutes away, Eindhoven is nicely positioned in the Dutch agro and food industry in the south.”
Startups from all over the world will be invited to present their ideas to the Startupbootcamp FoodTech team during a series of ‘Fast Track’ days. These FastTracks are being held globally in cities including Amsterdam, London, Kiev, Berlin, Paris, Tel Aviv, Lisbon, Rome and Madrid. The participating startups can earn a ticket to the Final Selection Days, the last selection round for the program.
