Innovatiehubs (zoals hier: High Tech Campus Eindhoven) zijn van groot belang voor de concurrentiepositie van Nederland, schrijft TNO.

The tech firm Demcon has become the newest resident of the High Tech Campus (HTC), bringing its innovation and digital expertise spanning several sectors to a new location in the south of Eindhoven from 1 July, according to a press release from the company.

With around 1,100 employees worldwide, Demcon Group helps to develop, produce and supply technology and innovative products. Already firmly established in five Dutch cities, Demcom also has offices in Germany, Japan, and Singapore.

Its founders established Demcon out of a passion for fixing problems with a combination of creative and technical skills.

A move closer to innovation

Billing itself as a company that “can make a difference with meaningful innovations”, Demcon supports startup entrepreneurs through different forms of technological expertise. By placing itself at HTC, the company hopes to put itself closer to startup enterprises and mix in with the start-up ecosystem.

When asked about why the move comes now, Barend Vermeulen, business unit manager for High Tech Systems, said: “At our office in Best there is an energetic atmosphere, there is a lot of interaction. But ideally, this dynamic extends beyond the outer walls of your office building.”

He adds: “This is the right moment. We have grown enormously in recent years. There are now more than 1,000 people on the payroll of the entire Demcon Group, 220 of whom work in Best. We, therefore, have our own resources available for deployment, with which we can, for example, diversify within a number of market segments.”

Jan-Willem Neggers, managing director of High Tech Campus, said: “Sharing knowledge and open innovation is an ideal breeding ground for startups. We are always happy to welcome new residents to the campus who come to share their knowledge and experience to develop meaningful innovations for societal problems.”
