“When I look at the concept, there’s only one place it could be in Brabant: Strijp-S.” Star chef Wouter van Laarhoven is back in the kitchen thanks to the new Restaurant Wynwood, which he will open in Strijp-S today, 18 June, with business partner, Eveline Wu. The ambition: to offer top-quality food and drinks for around 9 euros per course.
Van Laarhoven, the former chef cuisinier at Michelin-starred restaurant De Molen in Kaatsheuvel, believes that Strijp-S is a place for collaboration. “You see it everywhere around here and we’re also going to be a part of it.” Chef’s Friends interviews Van Laarhoven [in Dutch] and offers an exciting sneak preview of inside the restaurant:
The restaurant is linked to a take-away area where fish and chips will be sold. “With a trendy touch. We think this will give it added value.”
Ron Verhage has been recruited as the restaurant’s manager. He has previously worked at two Michelin-starred restaurant FRED in Rotterdam. As of today, Wynwood is in a so-called trial location, where 50 guests a day will be able to enjoy set menus once the restaurant has been officially opened.
