IO’s week: cyber security and the big promise of photonics

Each week, in our Sunday newsletter, we look back on the past seven days. Regarding content, we always do so at the initiative of our cartoonist, Albert Jan Rasker. He chooses a subject, draws a picture, and we take it from there.

Patrick Jordens is an entrepreneur with a heart for digital security. He is managing director of Trusted Third Party and founder of DMCC Group, which helps organizations comply with all external laws, regulations and internal policies on privacy and consumer law. He is also a guest lecturer in marketing, data privacy and ethics at the Hogeschool van Rotterdam. And he is our go-to guy when it comes to cybersecurity knowledge. In the Cracked by Jordens series, we look at the cybersecurity of consumers and businesses in the Netherlands. Today, we discuss the government’s cybersecurity month. Albert Jan is already on high alert, it seems.

European Photonics sector meets in the Netherlands

Urgency, standardization, and cooperation are crucial to moving forward in Europe’s integrated photonics industry. That was one of the main conclusions of day one of the PIC Summit Europe. At the conference hosted by PhotonDelta, industrial and academic leaders shared their visions for the future of photonics. IO was there; we wrote these two articles about it:
