Eindhoven-based high-tech company Incooling has won the finals of the Dutch Tech Innovator competition, organized by KPMG Emerging Giants. KPMG aims to use this to identify the most promising startups in the Netherlands. This victory secured the team led by Rudie Verweij a place in the global finals of the KPMG Global Tech Innovator competition in Lisbon later this year.

Incooling, known for its server cooling systems and founded to address the massive energy consumption of data centers worldwide, won a Gerard & Anton Award in 2019. The startup successfully conducted a pilot project with ASML and plans to continue this collaboration. The jury was impressed with their visionary approach and potential for global impact.

The best of Dutch innovation

The Dutch Tech Innovator is part of the KPMG Global Tech Innovator series. This international initiative focuses on identifying and supporting the world’s most promising startups. The event takes place in 24 countries and begins with national competitions. A global finale then takes place during the Web Summit conference in Lisbon.

Six startups were selected from a group of online applications for the Dutch edition. These six presented their ideas to an audience of tech experts and a jury. The participating startups were:

  • Incooling: Next-gen cooling solutions for servers.
  • tex.tracer: Provides transparency in the fashion industry.
  • Firsty.app: Provides free global mobile connectivity.
  • Wave Energy Collective (Weco): Converts wave energy into electricity.
  • Naq: Simplifies health compliance with an all-in-one solution.
  • Tellet: AI platform that enhances consumer research.

High level of innovation

Rudie Verweij, CEO and co-founder of Incooling, was delighted with the win: “It is a great honor to win this award. All the pitches were of such a high level – seeing so much innovation and entrepreneurship makes me very proud of the Netherlands.”

The judges were mainly impressed by the innovative power and impact of Incooling’s solution. “It was a tough decision, but Incooling stood out for its groundbreaking approach and potential to make a lasting, positive impact on the world,” said Izzy Sayers, Dutch Tech Innovator judge and Lead Emerging Giants at KPMG Netherlands.

As the Dutch Tech Innovator competition winner, Incooling will represent the Netherlands in the Global Tech Innovator finals. This final will take place in Lisbon on November 13, 2024.
