Civolution, the Eindhoven based world leader in watermark technology for film and video, receives a Technology & Engineering Emmy. “We are particularly proud that we as a Dutch company are awarded with the highest prize in the US television industry,” says CEO Alex Terpstra.
In a in depth article by Jonathan Marks e52 highlighted the High Tech Campus based company last week. With “steganography” – techniques for identification, management and protection of valuable video content – Civolution now has the majority of Hollywood as a customer.
The award will be presented at a ceremony on January 8, 2016 at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
Steganography is the art of hiding information in an object such as a picture or video. “NexGuard forensic watermarking” solutions cover various digital codes in the frames of a video or a movie. These digital codes can be added to content during the manufacturing or distribution process, the digital movie projector at a movie theater or even to the level of an individual set-top box or TV screen. In the case of illegal copies of the content the source of the leak can be found easily.
Terpstra: “This recognition acknowledges the enormous importance of watermark applications in the fight against piracy. Civolution’s NexGuard has a bright future ahead.”
