Waste imports, incineration, oceans full of plastic – at Seenons, they are convinced that this is no longer acceptable, especially in light of climate change. As a “waste director,” Seenons is accelerating the circular transition and, thanks to investors such as Invest-NL, CapitalT., Tablomonto, Swiss Post, and Shamrock Ventures, can increase this impact internationally. The 10 million euros now raised will be put into the further development of the circular platform through internationalization and technology improvement.

Waste director

Seenons was built to act as a “waste director” to accelerate the circular transition. In 4 years, Seenons has grown from an innovative idea to an international company with more than 75 employees and can call itself Europe’s leading circular platform. “We are very proud to announce that our company successfully raised €10 million in a recent funding round, even in difficult macroeconomic conditions,” says Joost Kamermans, co-founder and CEO of Seenons.

Urgency for circularity

The recent news that the Netherlands is importing waste from Rome to run its incinerators shows the urgency to become more circular, according to Kamermans. “Countries all over Asia and Africa refuse to accept European waste, and now it is being passed on to each other here. Our goal is to invest in a world without waste, which is more important than ever, considering climate change, resource depletion, and geopolitical tensions that call for more strategic autonomy. We aim to eliminate incineration, the use of landfills, and the dumping of waste in our oceans; there is no time to lose.”

Invest-NL

“As Invest-NL, we see the urgency to transform from a linear to a circular economy,” explained Elwin van Rooijen, investment manager at Invest-NL. “Seenons’ platform is an important digital engine for the circular economy that connects organizations with waste, then links them to logistics service providers and processors that convert the waste into valuable materials and products. Seenons fits perfectly into our investment strategy to support companies that accelerate the transition to a circular economy.”

On the road together

Martin Kayser, co-founder of Seenons and CTO: “With this funding, we want to enable higher steps on the R-ladder: Reduce / Reuse / Recycle, in multiple European countries. We will invest heavily in our circular platform, which serves as a waste director to transform the economy from linear to circular.”
