The AI Pitch Competition has announced its finalists, showing Brabant is making the future of artificial intelligence look bright. This year’s competition saw many creative ideas, with dozens of startups submitting pitches highlighting how AI can drive innovation across diverse industries. With tremendous gratitude to all the teams who entered, Liesje Goldschmidt, spokesperson for the competition, praised the participants’ “creativity and passion”, noting that the future of AI is not just a distant vision but a reality that’s unfolding now.
As the competition heats up, it’s time to announce the ten finalists and two university wildcard entries who will continue their journey, preparing to meet and greet key industry leaders on September 30th.
Here are the finalists and their potentially game-changing innovations:
QurieGen
QurieGen is at the forefront of AI-driven drug discovery. This biotech startup leverages a proprietary method of mapping cellular responses to drug stimuli. This disruptive technology reveals the full picture of the signaling pathways, replacing many different, mutually incompatible analytical tools that, at best, provide an incomplete picture of the cell response to drug perturbations. The QurieGen R&D team wants to build an AI platform to predict cellular responses to drug candidate molecules, enabling data-driven discovery.
Dembrane
Dembrane‘s AI transforms hours of talk into actionable insights. A simple tool records, transcribes, structures, and analyzes your conversations with stakeholders in minutes. Dembrane has found a way to survey large groups of citizens on a given topic and, with the help of artificial intelligence, distill from them the main conclusions and nuances of what is really going on within the group, including the corresponding sentiments.
Tetractys
Founded in 2024, Tetractys is a spinoff of the Eindhoven University of Technology.
Biglife
Biglife uses artificial intelligence to prevent piglet deaths in farrowing pens. It is a well-known problem that sows lie down on piglets. The first few days are especially critical for piglets’ chances of survival. Biglife looked at image recognition in human healthcare and applied that to sow farming. BigLife is a promising and practical solution to combat piglets lying dead by sows. An image-recognition camera recognizes situations where a sow lies down on her piglets. When this happens, the screaming sound of a piglet blares. This stimulates the sow to get up again.
EXERGY
Exergy is transforming the chemical industry by combining the power of artificial intelligence to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and reduce environmental impact. Its innovative solutions enable chemical companies to break free from outdated, siloed software systems and make data-driven decisions in real time, unlocking new opportunities for growth and sustainability. Exergy bridges the gap between legacy operations and future technologies, providing tools that empower engineers and managers to visualize, simulate, and optimize complex processes like never before.
Aevai Health
Aevai Health has developed an intelligent chatbot, Alva, that simplifies the data collection process for biobanks. Instead of relying on lengthy and complicated questionnaires—which many participants don’t finish—Alva makes it simpler and faster for participants, while reducing cost for biobanks. A biobank is an organization that collects and stores biological data for researchers. This data is crucial for advancing medical research, but the process of gathering it from patients can be complex, time-consuming, and expensive.
BrainBite
BrainBite is a revolutionary tech platform designed to make learning personalized, engaging, and accessible for children aged 6 and above. At its core, BrainBite leverages artificial intelligence to tailor educational content to each child’s unique needs and learning pace, ensuring that education is not only accessible but also engaging and effective.
MoreMovement
MoreMovement aims to make the analysis of body movements and positions as simple as possible. Its innovative analysis is widely applicable, both for professional and amateur sports; as well as for physical and occupational therapy. Reinforce your knowledge with AI motion analysis in your familiar environment: on the field or in the treatment room.
Maps Untold
Maps Untold is changing how we explore the world by creating AI-generated maps for travel and adventure. Their platform uses machine learning algorithms to curate personalized travel experiences based on user preferences and real-time conditions. Whether planning a road trip or a global expedition, Maps Untold helps travelers find off-the-beaten-path destinations that match their interests. Maps Untold provides the best personal hotspots for every situation based on your all time favorite go-to places. Creating city super fans and ambassadors along the way and insights about who your visitors are and how to reach them.
Owlitas AI
Compliance risks are often hidden and can emerge unexpectedly. Owlitas AI real-time monitoring and advanced analytics identify these risks before they become issues.
University Wildcards: Touchpulse and Meterd
Joining the finalists are two special wildcard entries from university teams. Touchpulse‘s mission is to empower individuals with visual impairments to live a life unhindered by their challenges. By harnessing the power of AI-driven solutions, Touchpulse crafts a tool that captures and communicates the critical details of one’s environment. In collaboration with the community, Touchpulse is developing a product and deep learning model in-house.
Meterd aims to support and accelerate the transition into sustainable energy and utility solutions through the combination of smart IoT and data science. Meterd offers an IoT utility usage optimization solution for the public sector and businesses. Its all-in-one platform allows for monitoring and managing key utility cost drivers and sustainable performance indicators with the help of an in-app smart digital consultant.
The Journey Ahead
As the AI Pitch Competition moves to its next phase, the finalists will have an opportunity to network with industry experts and investors during the Meet & Greet on September 30th. “The nomination is a huge achievement already, and your journey is just getting started”, Liesje Goldschmidt told the winners. “The event will be an incredible opportunity to connect and share ideas, with the goal of accelerating the growth and impact of AI innovations.”
The final pitches will take place on November 7th.
