Baltan Laboratories is looking for creative entrepreneurs who can shape their vision of urban renewal with a smart application. A price of up to 50,000 euros is waiting for the one with the best result. Speed is needed because registration is open until Wednesday, March 9th. The pre-kickoff will be the next day at Bliksem & Donderdag in De Kazerne.
Cities are in a state of transition, Baltan (located at Strijp-S) notes. “Often the existing infrastructure does not fit into the evolving needs of society. The city itself is smart. But the question is how we can benefit from it as citizens. How do we ensure that the Internet of Things will work for us?”
The aim is to come up with applications that can make cities more exciting, safer and more humane. All the details for the contest are here (pdf). The program consists of several hackathon-like working weeks, the first of which begins on 21 March. The prize money, 50,000 euros, is divided into two tranches of 25,000 each. The manufactured prototypes are to be tested during the summer months.
The competition is an initiative of Creative Ring Europe and is supported by CreatiFi. For the organization in Eindhoven Baltan works with VPRO Medialab, Eindhoven Startups Foundation, MAD and Seats2Meet.
