Airport expects 5.7 million passengers throughout 2017
Eindhoven Airport has shown a passenger growth of 23% compared to 2016, over the first 9 months of 2017.
In the period January to September, 4,353,567 passengers used the airport; 812,272 more than in the first nine months of 2016 (3,541,295 passengers). If the renovation of the runway in the same period last year were not taken into account, which meant that 17 days of no traffic was possible, the growth rate would still be 15%.
According to the airport, the growth in passenger numbers is due to an increase in the number of destinations, frequency increases and an increase in the occupancy rate per flight. The occupancy rate in the first nine months of 2017 was on average 155 passengers per aircraft compared to 145 in 2016.
The growth in the number of flight movements in this period is 15%, 28,040 flight movements over January through September 2017 (24,475 flight movements in the first three quarters of 2016).
Throughout 2017 Eindhoven Airport expects to realize a growth of 21% to 5.7 million passengers (2016:4.7 million passengers). The number of flight movements is expected to reach approximately 36,800 (2016:32,700 movements) over the year 2017.
