As of June 1, Aafke Eppinga is editor-in-chief of Innovation Origins. She succeeds Arjan Paans, who passed away earlier this year. Eppinga (29) has been active for several years in various roles for our newsroom but will now have final responsibility for all journalistic activities of the company. In recent months she has already been able to test run in her new role.

She briefly introduces herself:

I have, especially for a millennial, been involved in Innovation Origins for a long time. Creating Explainers during my Journalism Master, running a live YouTube channel during the COVID period, making videos on my cycling trip, and reporting from Germany: here you learn by doing. You’ve probably seen our names under the newsletters, but by now, together with colleague Elcke Vels, I have been heavily involved in the day-to-day running of the editorial team for some time now. Something I enjoy enormously.

And because at IO, you learn by doing, I will be the editor-in-chief of this platform as of June 1. An enormous honor, although I would have loved to ask my predecessor Arjan for advice. His answer would undoubtedly have been, “Yes, do it!” Starting next month, I will be at the journalistic helm of this organization, with Arjan’s voice in the back of my mind. I am very much looking forward to it. Please let me know if you have any tips, suggestions, or recommendations ([email protected]).”
