For the first time, the voting guide for the municipal council elections are not only available in Dutch, but also in English. The guide gives you 28 statements, with which you can agree or disagree. Based on your answers, the guide ranks the different political parties.

Sandra van de Meulengraaf, the registrar of the city council, tells us about the goal of the voting guide: “The municipal council has expressed the wish to make the voting guide available in English as well. So that even more people can know what the different parties stand for, what the differences are and get help in voting. We hope that language doesn’t have to be a barrier to vote.”

With the guide, you can compare the different parties to your own answers on the statements. That way, you can see which parties suit you. The guide is available here.

The municipal council elections take place on 21st of March, and you can choose between no less than 16 different parties. You are allowed to vote in the municipal elections if you are 18 years or older, and have the Dutch nationality or the nationality of another EU country, or have a valid residence permit and stayed in the Netherlands legally for at least 5 years.
