Clarivate Analytics, formerly the Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters, has listed NXP – for the second time in a row – in its annual list of 2017 Top 100 Global Innovators. Philips has been chosen for the sixth time. The report honors the most successful organizations in the world determined through innovative research and development, protection of Intellectual Property and achieving commercial success.

NXP and Philips were selected, among other attributes, for their strong patent portfolio. For NXP, this currently includes more than 9,000 patent families. In 2017 alone, the company was granted over 1,500 individual national patents and over 4,000 other national patent applications are in progress. The impressive volume of patent activity reflects the magnitude and scope of innovative products that NXP brings to market.

“Thanks to the passion of our people and their true dedication to changing people’s lives through technology, we are once again among the Top 100 Global Innovators,” said Richard Clemmer, CEO of NXP Semiconductors. “I believe that our continued investments in R&D and the efforts of our dedicated team of innovators, allow us to create secure connections for a smarter world, making a real difference. We are proud of our accomplishments for our customers and thankful to be recognized by Clarivate Analytics.”
