Decarbonizing Europe – Belgium

What are Belgium’s plans to become more sustainable?
Find out in our project Decarbonizing Europe

Traffic and heavy industry are the two main drivers of Belgium’s emissions. In an effort to reduce pollution, a series of measures are being taken. By  2029, the registration of new diesel cars will be forbidden, while fossil-fuel vehicles won’t be able to drive in the Brussels-Capital region by 2035. The European Commission gave Belgium €5.9 billion through the Recovery and Resilience Facility. A wind farm in an energy island, safe cycle paths, and hydrogen for heavy industry are some of the projects within the Belgian plan. Are you curious about how Belgium is planning to decarbonize?
