It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to get a close look at ASML or the Maxima Medical Centre (MMC). During the Dutch Technolgy Week both are opening up the doors – especially for children and their parents.

Under the name ‘step into the future of healthcare and technology’ ASML and Máxima Medical Centre present their ‘open day’. On Saturday, May 28, both neighbours from Veldhoven will show that they have more in common than it seems.

Operating room

Normally you would not want to enter an operating room, but this Saturday you really see what the work of a surgeon is all about. There you will also find out what the purpose is of all the devices, hoses and monitors in the surgery.

During the children’s press conference the boss of the hospital, a surgeon and a researcher will answer all the questions. Also, children can find out whether they have talent to operate.

Microscope

How small is small? At the hospital and at ASML the answer would probably be “much smaller than you can imagine”. Through a microscope you can see what they really mean by small. In addition, several interactive lectures for parents and children will take place during the day.

There are two programs: a morning session (9:00 to 12:30 am) and one in the afternoon (13:30 to 17:00). Both are free, but registration in advance is required. You can register here. The event takes place at the Plaza ASML in Veldhoven. More information can be found here.
