All regions in Brabant are in the top 10 of logistical hotspots in the Netherlands. The list (consisting of 28 areas) is headed by West Brabant, followed directly by Tilburg-Waalwijk. North-East Brabant is at 7, Eindhoven-Helmond at 8. The ranking list is compiled each year by magazine Logistiek. On 29 May the winners will be honoured in Almere.

Since the start of the election, it has been the fifth time that West Brabant has won the title of Logistics Hotspot number 1 in the Netherlands. The region recorded the highest score on 3 out of a total of 6 criteria, on the basis of which the logistics hotspot ranking is established. The chance that Eindhoven will score well next year has increased considerably with the arrival of Picnic’s distribution center (photo).

To determine the ranking of the 28 most important logistics hotspots in the Netherlands, Logistiek had a panel of 27 experts compare the various regions on the basis of an anonymous online survey based on six criteria:

– Availability of suitable staff
– Availability of sufficient building land and suitable premises
– Cooperation of public authorities/municipalities
– Employee commitment and motivation
– Presence of good infrastructure
– Accessibility of logistical hubs

Venlo-Venray, traditionally a top logistics region, will be in third place this year. This year, the region scores relatively low on the staff availability criterion. According to the organisation of the competition, there is also a general consensus among the jury members that the availability of logistics personnel is currently the hot potato in the south in particular. “Obtaining staff in the logistics hotspots is becoming increasingly difficult. Everyone is fishing for staff in the same pond.” In general, the whole of the Netherlands suffers from scarcity on the labour market, according to the jury. “The logistics hotspot regions of Venlo, West Brabant and also Tilburg-Waalwijk are, in any case, working with an active programme of knowledge institutions to limit or anticipate the problem.
