Over the next three years, Philips will invest in the renovation of two facilities at the Philips Innovation Center in Best. The investment consists of a transformation of the Research & Development buildings to create a future-proof working environment.
‘QP’ and ‘QR’ are the names of the innovation facilities at the Philips Innovation Centre that will be overhauled in the next few years. At the moment the buildings are home to employees who are conducting research for the health branch of the Eindhoven-based multinational.
“The Netherlands is our home country. This is where the headquarters, the executive board, the largest of the four global innovation centres and two major production sites are located. We will continue to invest in our future success,” says John van Soerland, Philips’ Vice President of Operations.

“With over 3,000 employees, the Philips Innovation Center in Best is one of Philips’ most important production and research locations worldwide,” he says. “The investment will benefit the full renovation of both buildings and the transformation to a new, inspiring working environment that includes laboratories, team areas, and meeting rooms. More than the existing building, the new buildings invite far-reaching collaboration between our developers, production engineers, and clinical scientists and will help attract new talent.”
The renovation, in which sustainability will be the main focus, covers 12,680 m2 for a total of 1,000 workplaces and should be completed by 2021 – the 50th anniversary of the campus. During the renovation, the various departments, which are mainly concentrating on MRI applications, will be alternately housed in another building at the same site.
