Decarbonizing Europe – Austria

What are Austria’s plans to become more sustainable?
Find out in our project Decarbonizing Europe

Environmentally friendly mobility, broadband expansion, and digitalization of companies are the main areas Austria is investing in. To do that, the country is receiving €3.5 billion in grants from the European Commission. In its plan, Wien is investing over half of its budget in digital objectives and 59 percent in green ones – some investments overlap, as they contribute both to make the country more digital and greener at the same time. Particularly, the largest investment – about 900 million euros –  is in faster internet connections, in an effort to make the Austrian economy more competitive.
