The 7th edition of the Dutch Technology Week (DTW) is including events in Tilburg for the first time. The organisation of the DTW is pleased with Tilburg’s participation: “Our ambition is to identify the successes of the Dutch high-tech sector, to promote enthusiasm about and pride in the Dutch high-tech sector and to bring about amazement about technology. More than 100 companies, knowledge institutions and governments, now including the municipality of Tilburg, together create the awareness that entrepreneurship, craftsmanship, creativity and thinking power are essential for this sector.” To help achieve these goals, more than 50 events will be held during the DTW – from 4 June onwards – mostly in the Eindhoven region.
Tilburg presents its own programme to introduce students to technology and what is happening here in that area. Alderman Erik de Ridder: “Tilburg is strongly represented in industry. Our strength lies in our past. Our creative mentality has ensured that we are now a city with a diverse and modern industry and we are strong in making high-tech applicable. Here we think about the influence of high-tech on our daily lives and how we can make the best possible use of things like AI, robotics and big data for our lives.”
With more than 1,000 companies and 16,000 people, large quantities of innovative products are produced in Tilburg every day. From roller coasters for the Efteling to cars for Tesla. “The knowledge we have at hand creates opportunities for the future. A good idea can be developed into a product, service or application in a short period of time and become a success. Who knows, we’ll even change the world,” says De Ridder.
On Tuesday, June 5th there is a program for secondary education, Thursday, June 7th for MBO students and Saturday, June 9th for the general public in the Ontdekstation013. Saturday’s theme is technology in motion, with already fifteen participating companies and training courses. Programming can be found on the DTW site.
